You've Grown An Audience On Instagram... Now What?
You’ve been working your ass off to grow your Instagram account and build an engaged community of people who love your content.

They interact with you by liking and commenting your posts and even sending you private messages, but the problem is that you don’t know how to convert all of those interactions into money in the bank.

You see all of those influencers making lots of money with the pictures they snap and share every single day but you’re not sure how they do it.

I’m gonna tell you a little secret. Most of them don’t know what they’re doing.

Their Instagram account is what some people call “an expensive hobby”.

This means, their accounts are not generating as much money as they brag about, because they have no idea about proper monetization strategies.

Now that you’re ready to generate serious money from your account, your next step is to learn the strategies that will put you ahead of 99% of those influencers who don’t know any better and start generating profits from your content without being salesy.

Let me tell you a story about how learning those strategies helped me in my life and business...
Learning How to Monetize Instagram Changed My Life
I come from a very different background than most entrepreneurs in the English market.

I was born in a poor third world country, Dominican Republic. I come from nothing.

You might know DR as the beach paradise (which is true), but only in tourist areas. The reality is that you would make very little progress there, even if you work your butt off.

That is why in 2012/2013 I decided to start learning about all this “online social media stuff” because I didn’t want to be stuck like all the other people in my country, making very little money and working just to make ends meet.

For me that’s not living, that’s merely surviving and in my mind I wanted a lot more.

I wanted to become a professional soccer player, and I knew that me staying in DR, without anyone knowing me was not going to cut it. That’s why I decided to create a Youtube channel to showcase my skills, training and fitness would be a good idea to get my face out there.

That is how my first Youtube channel (and Instagram account), JPdestro (now called Elation Fitness) was born - Yes, it is still live, you can actually look it up 😜

I wanted to become a pro, become famous, mix soccer, fitness, and random prank videos and blablabla. I wanted to have fun with it and I thought it was the greatest idea ever (because I was so “original”).

Little did I know that I was in for a treat...
To make this story short, everything
FAILED MISERABLY...
I was frustrated, depressed and just mad. I literally had no money. I had to sell everything in my closet, my Playstation and all my toys to invest in a computer and software to edit and other things I thought I needed to get this going.

I studied photography/videography and edited videos for hours every single day, yet I wasn’t getting anywhere.

On top of that, I didn't even know how I was going to make money with that content. I was thinking to pay for ads in Youtube and what not (worst possible business model ever).

And there’s more! I was still going to college, studying one of the hardest careers in that college, Electromechanical Engineering (How the heck those freaking scientists come up with all those crazy electrical theories and what not? anyways, back to my main point lol)…
This was my routine every single day:
I did that for 3.5 years straight.
It gets very exhausting.

I thought that after my graduation I’d have more time to dedicate to social media.

Well, bad news...
When I graduated, I got a job as an electrical construction supervisor, 8 hours a day, under the Caribbean sun, every day just to make less than $400 a month before taxes & expenses. Yes, that's the salary of an engineer in DR.

I absolutely hated my job, not only for the fact that I was a 21 year old having to deal with 30, 35, and 42 year olds who hated my guts because I was young, but also because I was stuck in a big fat rut and I had no idea how I was going to get out of it.

My dream and goal was to become a professional football player and to use social media to fuel that, but here I was, stuck without a plan of how I was going to get there.

Later down the year I got the chance to come to the USA with a student visa to a community college. It was a serious downgrade from where I was already.

I felt ashamed, but I knew that I just had to bite the bullet, swallow my pride and run with it, because it was my only door of entry to USA in order to pursue my dream. (This is also one of the many reasons why it pisses me off so much when I hear a USA citizen complaining, and whining. You have no idea the land of opportunity you live on…)

Moving on…

As soon as I got to the USA, I immediately got in a semi-pro team and got the ball rolling.

I was still doing social media (both on fitness and football, both unsuccessfully) and I was going to a community college to listen to teachers ramble about things I already knew because I was already an engineer.

Time kept passing by and even though this time around I was in USA pursuing my passion, I still felt stuck because I wasn’t moving forward to the speed that I wanted to.

My family then decided that it would be a good idea to go the safe route and get a Masters degree, because this football thing wasn’t getting me anywhere and the community college clearly wasn’t going to do anything for me.

So I started an accelerated online program on Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Honestly, I'm not gonna lie, I was actually excited for this one because an influencer, Ryan from Film Riot, had recommended the college.

6 months into the program I started realizing how business was really done and built (mind you, while all of this was happening, I’m still doing my weird Youtube and Instagram crap).

I then remember seeing one phrase the teacher mentioned saying:
“Successful people follow other successful people. It is the only way to shortcut your success”

It stuck with me.
1 week later I see a video from Russell Brunson saying “model success”. Then a week later I hear it from Tai Lopez, and then from Mitchel Harper, and then from Daniel Piazza, and then from another one and another one. I realized that I had to do it.

I had to figure out a way to shortcut my success because up until this point I had made like $300 in a time span of 4 years from my social media hustle (which is literally nothing).

I realized that the only way to shortcut my success, was to replicate it, to follow it, to model it, to get a map from where I was to where I wanted to go. That is when I decided to take a loan of $2,000 and get an Instagram marketing course to teach me about this social media crap.

What happened after that was extraordinary...

At the time I bought it (beginning of March of 2016), I had about 1k followers on Instagram (on my football page, because remember, my goal is still to go pro). I then started doing the follow/unfollow and started growing. I was the happiest guy in the whole world!! I grew to around 15k-20k by May of that same year, and then everything changed.

Instagram changed the algorithm and banned the app I was using to follow/unfollow…

This for me was the saddest news I could ever hear. I had invested $2000 on something that the main technique was teaching me to follow/unfollow in order to get followers. In my mind was like “if I get to 50k before the end of the year or maybe 100k, then I can get sponsorships” - there was no real monetization plan or strategy laid out for you.

I was NEGATIVE $2k, no money and I had to figure this thing out no matter what.

Now…

Remember that I started a couple months ago listening to Russell Brunson and Mitchel Harper, and that I was also doing my masters? Well, I decided to apply the same exact principles & techniques that you do to build a traditional business, on Instagram.

I also realized something that I hadn’t before, I wasn’t as hot as I thought I was (yeah lol I know.. I wanted to be famous and whatever like those Instagram models or whatever, and this was a punch in the face reality moment for me😜) I had to figure out a way to actually provide value to my audience because the reality is that no one gave a single damn about me and what I did.
After that, almost overnight, everything exploded in terms of growth, and a little bit of money started to come in.
While that was happening I had the chance that I had been waiting my entire life.

Because of my online presence, an agency contacted me and wanted me to go through their program and show case it online.

They were going to put me inside professional football teams here in USA. It was my dream come true, BUT…

I said no to it…

No you might be wondering, why the heck would you say no to your childhood dream?

To explain that I need to backup a little…

Up until this point in my football career I had had countless injuries. I had broken both of my ankles, injured by back, my knees, shoulders, neck, I even got my 2 front teeth kicked backwards (I don't have sensitivity in them right now. The nerve is dead). I had persevered after every single one of them.

One time I was even told by a doctor that I was never going to be able to run again because my ankle had been broken on both sides at the same time.

(I do believe that these things built out my character and my drive because trust me, you getting the news that you won't be able to run again, takes 2 ….. to get back up from that and keep going)

Fast forward to the moment the agency contacted me, I was just recovering because I had broken the big toe of my left foot. I was able to do everything, except play, and I used that time off to dedicate full time to Instagram and figure it out. The agency then contacts me and I decline their offer (which again, was everything I had ever dreamed of)…
Now the question becomes why?
Well, up until this point I had played 1st division in DR, won everything there (I even got offered a contract over there but denied it because it was going to be like $1k/month and I had the chance to come to USA), I had played semi-pro here (and semi pro, you actually get to play against pro teams, you get to see who/how they are, etc, etc.

One thing I realized as I was going through this is that most of these players barely make any money and they have no freedom.

It was that moment that I had to realize to myself, hey… I am not going to become Messi or Ronaldo, and make millions doing this. I'm barely going to make anything and won’t have freedom at all.

That was the reason why I said no to the agency. I saw more potential in what I was trying to build, than in pursuing my life long dream.

Trust me… even to this day, remembering that moment is hard. It was the hardest decision of my life, but I believe it was the right one.

That was the deciding moment of my career. I would have taken that, and I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I believe in making decisions with your brain and making calculated decisions & risks. That thing that people say “trust your gut and your heart”, screw that. If I would have done that I would still be stuck in the same place I was a little over a year ago.
After this I met Virginia Kastilio and that is when I realized that your true value is in your network.
She was the catalyst for everything. While she didn’t do the work for me, she certainly instilled in me the idea that I actually had something valuable to share and that I was actually worth something. She gave me permission to move forward (as stupid & silly as that sounds).

I will forever be in debt to her because if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Up until the moment I met her, I was broke. I was making very little money even though I had a pretty substantial audience on instagram.

In order for me to hang out with her for 3-4 days, all I was able to eat was 2 or 3 granolas per day + water, because I didn’t have money for food in the tourist area where we were staying at (and of course, I have pride ok?

I wasn’t going to ask her, WHOM I JUST MET, to feed me because I had no money lol)

After that things picked up extremely fast. September 13th, 2016 was the first major transaction, $3500, on my PayPal (which of course, PayPal held for 21 days.. those idiots -.- lol).

A little over a month later a $10k client, then a $9k one, then $15k, and it just kept going and going and going.

A little over a year later I was invited to an event called “Influencer Party” by a company called Clickfunnels.

Every single time I look at the pictures of that event, I can't believe it.

It literally feels like a dream to be able to be where I am. I truly can't count all the blessings and things God has given me.

From nothing to building several million followers on instagram, and a network of hundreds of millions, a business from literally $0 (with $0 funding or resources) to multiple 6 figures in revenue in 1 year, having worked & working with probably the best entrepreneurs of our generation (even celebrities like Ronaldinho).

Being invited to speak at events, podcasts, conferences, interviews, magazines, It feels unreal.

Entrepreneurs whom I’ve looked up to for so long & idolized, I was able to meet, have dinner with at this event, take pictures, and ALSO RUN OVER THEM as we broke a world record in bubble soccer (that was the best part😜 ) and now have the chance to collaborate & work with on several projects.

For some reading this you might be saying, “oh 6 figures is nothing, 7 is where is at”, for others 6 seems like light years ahead of you.

For the 7 figures all I can say, 5 months from now let's talk again and lets see what happened 😉

For the people who think is light years ahead of them, it really isn’t, trust me...

If me, a guy who came from nothing, from another country, that the only common thread between DR and USA was that I also had wifi & an internet connection (not even as fast), can do it, you can too.
No matter where you are in the world, the internet is all you need.
The internet has leveled the playing field in a way that gives everyone an equal shot at their dreams & aspirations.

Before? If you were born in a third world country like I was, you were out of luck, but today? Today is a different story baby.

Today you can start from ground zero and make it to a freaking influencer party in Boise Idaho with literally the best entrepreneurs & marketers IN. THE. WORLD.

Now you know my story, there is one thing you must remember…

The ONLY reason why I started seeing success, was because I decided to invest in myself.

That $2,000, if I wouldn’t have done that, I would still be in the same spot that I was before.

Don't think “I can't have it, I don't have money”, think “I want to have it, how can I make it happen?”

Leverage other people’s money AKA take a loan, work at Mcdonalds, wash cars, cut grass, sell lemonade, do whatever you have to do to start and make it happen. You have literally zero excuses, why? Because I did it, and so can you.

Even until this very day I spend A LOT of money in education, mentors, courses, etc. The moment you stop pushing yourself, learning, improving and investing in yourself, is the moment when you stop winning & die.

This event for me, just like when I met Virginia, was eye opener. While I already knew that I had the power to break the 7 figure mark, it reaffirmed & “gave me permission” to do so.

Just hearing the encouragement, the blueprint & path to follow from those who have done numbers that I can't even comprehend, is encouraging and paints the vision so clear in my head that drives me crazy.

Learning to monetize Instagram the right way took me from working 8 hours a day, under the sun and making less than $400/month, to having the opportunity to retire my parents before I am 30 (I’m 25 now, I think I’ll be able to do it by the time I am 27 or 28), being able to travel wherever I want whenever I want and be able to live my ideal lifestyle.
